Looks like Colin Kaepernick is hip to the true value of his likeness.  According to ESPN, Kap has filed for a Trademark for the likeness of his face that includes – of course – his now famous beard and the blow out afro.  Without question, this is in response to the rise in stock value and social media blitz that Nike receieved after their mutual campaign went viral.  The value in his strategy is  realizing that HE is the brand; more than NIKE.

“I think it’s very smart,” trademark attorney Josh Gerben of Washington-based Gerben Law said of Kaepernick’s filing. “Nike made him relevant. Now he can monetize that and promote his movement more.”
